Allison is Professor in the Department of Optometry & Vision Sciences, in the Melbourne School of Health Sciences, The University of Melbourne.
Allison’s specific research interests include improving the detection and monitoring of vision loss due to glaucoma, improving understanding of neurological disorders such as migraine and visual snow, and the impact of normal aging on visual processing and experience. The overarching aim of her research is to innovate in the assessment of visual disorders and to improve understanding of visual processing. Her lab uses a variety of contemporary neuroscience and vision science methods including visual psychophysics (measurement of visual behavior), human electrophysiology and human brain and ocular imaging. Allison's research program is highly collaborative and interdisciplinary, engaging with colleagues from ophthalmology, psychology, physiotherapy, neurology and neuroimaging.
