Dr. Galia Avidan (Partner) is a Professor at the Department of Psychology and the Department of Cognitive and Brain Sciences at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev Beer Sheva, Israel. Her current scientific discipline is cognitive neuroscience, and her research focuses on the psychological and neural properties of the human visual system. Specifically, her work is designed to elucidate the brain mechanisms giving rise to perception of faces, objects and scenes and in turn, to visually guided behavior. In her research she adopts an integrative multidisciplinary approach by combining behavioral, computational, eye tracking and imaging techniques (structural and functional MRI) and by studying healthy individuals as well as individuals with neuropsychological deficits affecting visual perception and cognition.
