Joo-Hyun Song received her B.A. from Seoul National University (Seoul, Korea) in 1998, and her Ph.D. from the Dept. of Psychology at Harvard University in 2006. Following postdoctoral training in systems neuroscience and neuroimaging at the Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute, San Francisco, she joined the CLPS at Brown U as Assistant Professor in 2010 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2018. She is also an affiliate of the Carney Institute for Brain Science. The overarching goal of her research program is to understand how multiple systems, involved in allocating visual attention, selecting a target, controlling eye and hand movements, and acquiring new motor skills, are seamlessly coordinated to successfully interact with complex environments. Dr. Song serves as Guest Editor for a special issue in on the topic of “Time for Action" ” in Attention, Perception & Psychophysics and currently an associate editor for JEP: General.
