Sarah Weigelt is a professor at TU Dortmund University's Department of Rehabilitation Sciences and leads the research group "Vision, Visual impairment & Blindness"
Her research examines child vision and its underlying neuronal changes throughout development. Current projects focus on visual illusions, mid-level and higher-level vision and cortical visual impairments. Furthermore, Sarah and her team explore connections between vision and mathematical abilities. Supporting the rights of people with visual impairments or blindness through research on inclusion is another important topic of our group.
Sarah received her PhD from Maastricht University for work conducted at the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research Frankfurt. After postdocs at MIT and the University of Münster she became an assistant professor at Ruhr-Universität Bochum before joining TU Dortmund University. She has received several awards and honors including the Otto Hahn Medal and the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize.
